You need to talk to someone who actually plays pool well (Fargorate of 600+). You're missing a ton stuff. You'd be surprised how complex pool really is with all the variables. That cheap wood table with the cheap balls will also just be way too inconsistent.

What a great online game this will be! Wish you'd done the project sooner. My pool league's been shut down for most of the past year due to COVID-19. I'm sure it would have been highly therapeutic. Lemme know when you come out with a version that can compensate for all those annoying variables one faces when playing on different tables (most of which live in BARS) from week to week - dead rails on Monday, lively rails on Tuesday, some combination of the two at random intervals, fast cloth at venue A, old and dirty felt at venue B, chips in the slate some lazy ass table re-coverer didn't fill in...you get the picture. Most of my opponents are much better at pool than I am, but, then again, I'm a lot better at math & science so it's all good. Very happy to have found your channel!

When the image is captured, it's a projection of these two layers stacked up. - 2D
So how do u make the image correction that match the reality? Doesn't the ball stretch? Or you are correcting it using two different rules?

The next logical step is to create another robot so the robo-pool stick can be remotely positioned on the table. This would allow multiple online players to compete against each other. Take out the auto-win feature so that people truly are competing against someone else anywhere there is a fast enough InterNet connection. Or, have a paywall setup so that players can try to beat different levels of skill by the robo-pool stick. Championships or tournaments with real live pool sharks/professionals could be a thing. It could also be helpful to students forced to learn from home. Teach them the math behind making the best or coolest shots. Even if you can't impart that knowledge on kids with Dyslexia you can at least give them insights into other things they can accomplish in spite of their lifelong road blocks with math.

You would need a level at the fulcrum of the stand to calculate the exact angle of the stick, give yourself a higher or adjustable stand, learn the sweet spots causes by hitting angles of the cue ball to cause front and back spin. SOUNDS CRAZY but if you imagine the ball as a perfect circle with 9 dots the in the pattern of a square on your ball, you get the sweet spots, You would need to have the tip of the stick chalked every time for consistency

If you setup 1 on each side of the table you could use lag bolts or something to move along x,y,z axis and remove the need for human setup completely. Then it could be played by both people online, 1 person online or 1 player against computer players of different skill levels and even online versus computer players.

In pro billiards one will have not only to worry about angle and directional spin while hitting the ball, but mainly two hidden extra criteria. more important that the power is the actual speed that transfers to power. and second one is the touch or actual hitting motion. transpiercing motion or backfiring motion.
like in chinese movies punching through-type hits will cause flat impact and will mostly result in area damages, as firing an opposite force (pulling straight back) when hitting will tend to provoke more of an impact wave and following internal damages. same for the balls the way they bounce and mostly their bumpiness, bouncing and trajectories after impact will see significant changes considering these strike variations.

A buddy of mine went to a premium engineering school, and he picked his "thesis project" as a freshman to make a pool playing robot similar to this that could drive around a rail installed around the table. He was supposed to complete this by his senior year. He wanted it to be like the real life version of Deep Blue, but for pool.

Something that would be neat to add as an advid pool player myself is “safety” plays. In other words if you dont have a shot... like you mention in the final match against wife made here... find a shot that leaves the cue ball somewhere your opponent won’t have a shot either. Just a thought!
