Machinists' jacks are useful everywhere and can be a great lathe project: turning, threading, knurling, etc.
Took the easy way out this time and used threaded rods and nuts. Welded and turned.

Tony - I know this is an old video and you probably wont see this comment but fingers crossed.
How do you get such a nice finish on steel with carbide tooling on an old lathe? What inserts and rpm?
I have a Colchester Triumph roundhead - pretty similar to your lathe. Top speed 1000rpm. Rough finish on steel - but great on ali and brass. Driving me mad.

@This Old Tony Wow a reply from the man himself - awesome! I have actually tried round button type inserts and they were the best of the lot. All mine are negative rake - perhaps that is the problem. As for the tool post it is bomb proof. Too much so. I wanted a Dickson QCTP but the 4 way has a massive central post that won't fit. Machined from the solid as well so no way to change it. I don't want to cut it off so perhaps I will make a new topslide - one day....... Cheers Tony and keep up the good work!

This Gospel Tract is posted regardless of location and subject with discernment. The bible says Christians are called to proclaim the uncompromised and complete biblical gospel (Matthew 24:14, Matthew 28:19-20, Romans 1:16, John 12:48)
    Good News! Find Eternal Life
    1) Faith: Faith in the finished work of Christ (fully man, fully God) and His perfect sacrifice for sins (John 3:16)
    2) Repentance: Turn from your fallen, sinful mind and ways to all of God's Holy ways. (Luke 13:3)
    3) Born again: You must be born of God's spirit to ever see eternal life. In this new life, He gives you a new heart and mind to then serve Him as He sees you a willing vessel for them. (John 3:3, John 3)
4 ) Holiness with obedience: If you're changed by God you WILL, as fruit, strive to leave all sin, worldliness, carnality and false ways (like man-made religion, entertainment, etc.) and obey all His commands and be holy in all your ways. (1 Peter 1:15 / Hebrews 5:9 / Hebrews 12:14)
    5) Endure in your faith: You MUST keep clinging to Christ via this saving faith to the end of your life, lest you fall away and have believed in vain. (Matthew 24:13, Matthew 10 and 1 Corinthians 15)
