I ave 2 theories.
My first one is that LN2 is not a prequal. It is really a sequal. It is taking place after the first game. Six looses her raincoat on her way throught the woods. She is going backt ot eh maw to take over as the Lady or satisfy her hunger once again. She sneaks into a Guests suitcase to return back tot he maw that she has been to before after being kidnapped by the Faire Man. that's why she arrives ina suitcase as seen in the first game and a similar suticase in the first room we encounter Monster six in LN2.
OR....
It's a sequal and a prequal. It's a loop. Not only that..... A Tv show. LN2 is a Tv show! That explains why the Bullies are so naughty and always doing bad things to each other. They are actors! and you know when you are watching a Tv show or movie and miss a part of it. You come back and have no idea what happened int he time you were gone. That's what happens with the Bosses in LN2. The hunter wears a bag because he got shot BEFORE WE SHOT HIM. The teacher had an extremly long neck BEFORE SHE CHASES US THROUGH THE VENTS. And the doctor sheds ashes while crawling on the roof BEFORE WE BURN HIM. We are reliving episodes for the show in a corrupted world. We are understanding the story of why and how things happen. We are the viewers. And the Tower will live on forever. Mono will be the Thin Man and control the Pale City. There has always been a Pale city and always will be. During the first game too. That's why we see some character's masks int he doctor's room.
JackaSonBoy !!
The ending made me cry I trusted you Six... why..? You would have turned into a monster and I would have been slender man and we will be very powerful!

What if the glitched out souls power the broadcast? It makes sense (sort of)

Mono (one) and Six?? The names must mean something. Any ideas??

i wonder if the game developers have this whole backgorund story in mind before they make the first game, or they think of this after the first game ? Either way, they are genius

Why do I have a feeling that the developers of Little Nightmares 2 are trying to send a message that we should spend less time in front of a screen?

When you realize that Thin man is called Thin man because Thin Mono and Then Mono the older version of Mono I'm Big Brain like this now if you now understand AND NO STEALING MY COMMENT!!! also did you know that if its a prequel then what will Little Nightmares 3 then maybe a double prequel mono or a continuation of six's story also six was draining the power so when he did that he got corrupted too, to the dark side of six also six has memory loss of some sort so yeah pretty long comment but yeah that's it for today every day THIS passage will be longer. Also Six got her name from the sixth deadly sin, gluttony. She got her name from the fact she is always hungry. also good job finding this comment I cant even find it

This comment is barely english. What are you even saying??

So thin man is good?

I have another theory
Six also has a cycle
Why? Here’s why
In the mobile game of LN, there technically 2 sixes, the one we know and the one who dies in the game. So our six escapes with the yellow raincoat, going to the forest and losing it, getting captured by the hunter and meeting mono (you can only see it in the books/comics, but it’s technically canon) where she gets rescued by Mono, later betraying him and going to the maw, then killing the lady and getting her powers. The lady would get replaced (cause that’s pretty much required) ok so there are 2 options here. Option 1, old mono waits for someone to escape the mobile game place and become another six OR six goes to that place where she escapes from, trying to break someone out, dying in the process. The kid she was trying to break out escapes with her raincoat and BOOM, that’s my theory on her own cycle

I know there will probably not be a third game of Little Nightmares. But how cool would a sequel to game I be: During the first game, Six is in the Maw to fill that hunger. During her journey, she must notice, that the signal tower is still working because of the creatures she meets in the Maw as well as they behaviour and the televisions (e. g. the janitor is distracted by a television at one point and it's also the same programme like in game II). At the end of the first game, Six got incredible dark powers form the lady. Now she would have enough power to go back to the signal power and kill Mono once and for all to "end the nightmare" from her perspective, not knowing that she was part of the Thin Man circle, which is explained in this video. A possible game III could bring the story to a final end, including an epic fight of Six and Mono, because Mono still wants revenge on Six.
sandwich
my theory- six didn't betray mono and here's why
I think six didn't betray mono, and let me explain why, when six holds mono's hand on the edge, six decided to let go of mono's hand,
If you see the ending, six popping out from the tv, you can hear six stomachs grumbling and began to get hungry if six save mono from the edge, mono would have been eaten alive by six because six's hunger cannot be control (and not to mention that six haven't eaten food for days and trap in the room before mono saved six), whenever six saw food/living animal, six will eat the food/living animal if it's raw or not, six would have been eaten mono alive,
Six cared for mono, it's the best for letting go of the edge, instead of mono being eaten alive by six
This is just a theory, not a canon game :)
Great Returning
Wait... if Mono is Thin Man, it is a possibility Tall Lady is Six herself!!!

I don´t think thin man is weaker than Mono, but Mono win the battle because thin man doesn´t want to hurt himself.

But can we consider the fact that Six only saw Mono's face at that very last scene. Only then would she be able to see that Mono is Thin Man and she lets go to protect herself, not necessarily in pure betrayal, as she could have left him high and dry at any point in the story.
Mark Priss
Regarding the “mind blown” dude it was obviously a prequel... I could see it a mile away... I mean she finds her raincoat in this game... where is the surprise really?

Bruh it was a cycle

Hey, Mike! As a fellow YouTuber captain sauce said, it repeats for six as well as six consumes the lady's power and then becomes the lady!

I really think Mono knew about the loop and that's why he covered his face and not letting Six see it, but taking Mono's personality at the end where he just only cries about the betrayal and then doing nothing but growing up till become the thin man, that last thing makes think he knew what was going to happen, he knew Six would let him fall, but still he's trying to change her decision.

I think people might have noticed this already, but especially with the long arms, distorted Six looks a lot like the janitor that attacks and hunts her down in the Maw.

I like how Mono's colour scheme is monochromatic

I like some fun alternative story theory based on a children's imagination from Six's POV. Ignoring LN1, Six is a poor girl living in the woods (maybe the hunter is the parent or captor), where she finally found television(mono), realized the vastness of the world outside and decided to escape, whereby in the process, killed the hunter. She was admitted into orphanage maybe, not school, but this time she might've injured someone and herself and got sent to the hospital. Her escape from reality was always TV(mono). And she killed her doctor and ran to the streets as a homeless person. No one offered help or cared, and she blamed it on TV (mono) thereby causing havoc and finally rejected TV altogether, and make escape to the Maw. (The sadistic nature possibly caused by trauma way before from when she was imprisoned in the woods, which the hunter may or may not have lead her into cannibalism)
That One Guy
ALRIGHTY, so I'd like to hear your theory's and thoughts on this, maybe it was already explained but I have not seen a video covering this - What are the glitched remains? Theorists seem to overlook them, however they are FAR more connected to the story than they appear to me. They are not just "collectibles". They alone hold the answer to the justification and / or alignment of the thin man in the series. The running theory is that the thin man, who is in fact an aged mono, is trying to save himself from becoming... Supposedly a monster. As of now the thin man is rather justified ( but not really, because he ABDUCTS CHILDREN. ) and his actions all seem absolutely necessary. and THAT is where I slap this theory with my great, great, probably about to be disproved wall... WHY WOULD HE ABDUCT THE GLITCHES, if it is deemed completely necessary to save himself?! I do not have a definitive answer to this question, but I can completely debunk the alignment of the thin man by this alone. What's that? Why I believe the thin man is responsible for leaving these "glitched remains" in his wake? Well, When the thin man took six away, it left behind a strange, glitched six that WAS NOT AT ALL dark six. What did you think that was? GLITCHED REMAIN. And right there displays that the thin man's description of "searching for something" is A bit more than just SEARCHING FOR SIX. He is leaving the souls of the damned in every hole in the game that he may pass. Now we need to ask the question: BUT... WHY MONO?! This leads me to believe that even now we are missing a piece of the puzzle, and I cannot prove why exactly he would in fact do this. That is the only thing that backs against this theory, and if you have any thoughts, or perhaps other statements that may disprove my theory, I would love a bit of constructive criticism from you guys. 😁

@That One Guy Oh, and I got a notification from another comment section that I've replied in saying you posted a theory, so I just looked in the "Newest First" filter to find you. You were the first one I saw after I did that. Lol. I'd let people know they can find this all by doing what I did btw.
Zachary Ray
The glitched remains just seem like the souls left behind from the bodies Thin Man stole to feed the Signal Tower since the tower seems to be an organic being that needs to consume. Young Mono doesn't know he's fated to become the Thin Man, and he's a good kid, so that's why I think he collects them. Maybe his "collecting" is actually saving them from being stuck in their endless glitchy purgatory. Or maybe collecting them also gives him more power for his supernatural abilities. Kind of like how Six has to consume things to strengthen her supernatural abilities.
That One Guy
Also please don't class me as an idiot if my theory is wrong, no need to tell me things I already know 😆 Edit: I BET YOU HAD FUN IF YOU WERE LOOKING FOR THIS THEORY IN 13K REPLIES! (Evil laugh montage.)

So thin man was only trying to stop the cycle, but couldn’t because some of his power was taken by six?
Saki
Ya therefore resulting him losing to his younger self (which was stronger at the time and six hasn't absorbed his powers yet)

@SuperHorrorBro I really like this theory as it puts the entire thing in its own world my first thought was that it was all a metaphor that they didn't actually go through any of the events as put when you think about it these are all signs of abuse and I'm going completely based of off what I've seen of little nightmares 2 but the summary of it is that this is a revisit to the past traumas of someone who was abused and neglected the paper bag that he starts with shows he's self conscious and doesn't like who he is when he finds six and saves her from her imprisonment my thought was "why wasn't she already dead' she obviously had many toys and a bed why was she still alive and living with that horrid hunter it also explains why she was troubles if that is that the hunter isn't just a hunter but a manifestation of her trauma when she escapes she's likely troubled with what to do next but if you look closely at when you make it across "the lake" ley me tell you what the lake represents in my mind a road filled with mystery because they're both together and they don't know where they're going theyre just floating without purpose through life and then when they make it they both stand together like they just found their purpose like they're ready for the next step this step is helping mono the first place they visit is the school and for a moment im going to pretend the eyes don't exist ill explain them later the you first encounter a silhouette of the teacher a hit at she's their or a hint that the trauma is their but it gets more and more profound you discover the bullies they're frequently beating each other even going as much as to try and kill each other but there's also little pranks but the teacher doesn't stop it or just isn't around to stop it I feel like these are all just manifestations of what mono's school life was like the teacher the only person who could stop this stuff didn't do anything and you can clearly seeing them getting worse at first it's a few falling pockets or a reference to the falling water/paint bucket prank and you may say that "these werent falling off of door ways but on ropes planning to swing down and kill you" and i say yes they indeed were but why buckets? They could have picked any other trap idea but they chose buckets and like the same bucket prank they have to be triggered they could have just made a little noise if you stepped into an area they definitely had the means to do so and it likely would have been much easier than to put a visible trigger for it now it gets worse when they take six it's kind of weird right? They lock you in a locker and six could have helped you out but they take her and tie her up... or it might mean something else. Since this is a manifestation of trauma six is in place of somebody else but mono can't imagine her leaving him for "something more important" or "being tied up" so mono escapes himself and goes to find six or the person she's in place of but low and behold she's with the bullies so mono beats the bullies but can't do so to the person six is taking place of. Betrayal is the second chapter. This betrayal leaves him a but this is what she is portrayed as in the second chapter each chapter she plays a different part (im doing this on the fly so it might change) now I'll get on to explained the grotesque neck of the teacher but I want to answer a question first. Why doesn't she use the neck for anyone other than mono? Surely she'd be able to catch students cheating with that neck? Personally I think this can go two ways one is more plausible than the other but it should still be addressed. 1 the teacher is under the impression that mono is the bad guy. And when you think someone is the bad guy you try and catch them in the act going far out of what you should be doing in order to catch them. And what does the teacher do the entire time? She goes about her work until she hears mono. Mono being the bad guy(in her mind) she follows always trying to catch him in the act mono having to be a literal gymnast to jump over the hurdles of not getting in trouble with her not to be caught. Or 2 it can be that she's trying to help where it isn't going to great lengths to help where it isn't wanted stopping at the drop of a hat when mono is nearby to see if she can help and to anyone with any sort of depression or anxiety making someone worry is a fear most of them have to them it's like being a bother because they don't think they're worth it and that's why when mono is caught by the teacher you lose because the gig is up they will no longer have circumstantial evidence as to if mono is ok or not and mono'll never be able to continue on like that I will now explain the vents a little bit you know how the vents normally gave you a bit of reprieve from her even if you didn't realize I think that that's a manifestation of a safe space a place no one else can go or find a place free of the bullies and mean/persistent teachers but at the end of the chapter she forces her way into them chasing you deforming your safe space denting it cracking it all the way until you make it out of the school this I think more or less represents the past few years of mono's school life where that teacher is rushing to catch mono doing something(in case of theory 2) in order to help him(in case of theory 1) to find something that will absolutely ruin him so she travels into places she doesn't belong in order to find him catch/help him this chapter ends when they fall out onto the trashcan while this could be convenient placement I would like to argue that this another metaphor that mono was tosses aside when he left school (hold on a second for part two)
Kyoka
this goes onto the next chapter of the doctor which (ok im getting tired now but I'm commited) entails trauma of the hospital I think you said it was a hospital people went to in order to get "fixed" so I think that the atmosphere reminds me more of a mental hospital than anything so I'm going to roll with that train of thought upon the beginning we can already tell somethings up but before I delve to deep I'm going to explain my theory on the mannequins they are once again manifestations of trauma these are actual people who are being brainwashed into being "fixed" and one they are "fixed" they are plastic and fake and and can never be truly trusted the flashlight you shine on them to stop them I can only assume by using the flashlight mono is actually giving them bits of information so it's more like the light is inside information that stops them in their tracks but by stopping so by flashing them they don't know how to help mono because they know just a fraction of what's going on and the reason they don't stop without the flashlight is because they're quite literally in the dark being left in the dark makes people naturally want to know what's going on so they seek out the information and they don't like what they find so they stop in their tracks the reason mono has to keep the flashlight on is because do you really think that even if you tell someone something they're going to stop no they're going to want more information so they keep trying to help and that's why they're so persistent as for the small dismembered hands that's simple that's mono swatting away quite literally the helping hands people who reach out trying to help mono. mono swatted them away dodged and broke them. mono only had to do it a few times before they gave up as for the boss I think he represents more of a group of people or a system rather than just one person it seems as though he's so focused on fixing the other "mannequins" making sure they're perfect we even see him gut a person doing a complete change almost like that person was close to irredeemable and just needed a complete remodeling and it happened right before mono's eyes now this doesn't mean it was instantaneous it just means that it happened in the end this person mono knew was changed every little bit until it was unrecognizable in the end we end up burning the doctor that means that either the entire system was disbanded or the more likely one is that the mental institution was just disregarded in the mind of mono he hates mental institutes with a burning passion (pun intended cause it's more of a metaphor) now on to chapter 4 (I know I could do better on chapter 3 but I need to get this over with so I can sleep) this one is very simple to explain the thin man isn't just one man but more of a group of people (again this entire world is a manifestation of trauma to help mono cope that is the theory) these people in short are abusers six gets taken by one so on his quest to save her he's having to use one of the on things he's learned. How to put up a mask. The viewers are people who he doesn't know and they don't know him but the mask he puts on is all they see they don't see the traumas just outside of their vision he manipulates this mask a lot and In the final fight and I know you're thinking "but he already has a mask their can't be two" and to that I say yes their can there exists a mask that every person with a mental disorder puts on but not for the outside viewers but to oneself its the mask, the lie of being fine throughout this entire thing I've stressed two points.people were either trying to help where it wasn't wanted. Or they were actively trying to make it worse via bullying or abusive actions in general. The first mask you start with and can choose to end with is the lie the TV screen the one you choose to manipulate is the facade. The final battle with the thin man to try and save six i think is the best part because this is when you take off the first mask, admit that you aren't alright and this is very inportant because this means that the fight with the thin man is more of a court case trying to manipulate mono's mask in order to convince the jury that he has to go and mono wins of course now I will go to chapter 5. Chapter 5 is all about trying to save Six from her experience with her abuser first mono has to get to her which i don't mean in a traveling way I mean in a communicative way like she "hears" mknk but doesn't hear him so that's the first part it's literally just a long journey of gaining trust and trying to get things to process in her head because when you have certain mental disorders you tend to not believe the good things people say which is exactly what is happening to six in the first half of the chapter it takes a long time and the second is helping six get over her problems one of the major one is the abuser we can assume that this was a abusive relationship abusers in those kinds of things tend to make the person they're abusing feel dependent on them so that they won't leave so naturally mono needs to break through that in order to get to the other problems because they only become more prominent once you break through the dependent shell once you do while it's not smooth sailing it becomes a lot easier from there but it's a fight mono has a fight with six while trying to break this shell and in the end does help her and in the end once they finally think about just how much is wrong it all comes collapsing they try and get the help they need they run and run quickly running out of room to run the groud is falling beneath them their lives crumbling under the weight of their mental distress with six seemingly saved mono reaches out one last time for a boost something anything to hold onto so he doesn't fall into despair he grabs onto six she hold him for a second as if thinking about if she should but she drops him and like a brick in water he sinks lower and lower into despair it overwhelms him and as he grows old he becomes the same thing he once fought to save six... thin man
InTheory
I am just curious how many people picked up the paper boat and put it near the storm drain hoping that something would happen? After seeing the "now serving number 249" I wondered how many other horror film easter eggs are hidden inside this game?
Vanessa Ferrer
I wish the creator gonna continue the story (Series) and make a Little Nightmares III
Leazer Lazz
I personally think Thin Man was aiming to get rid of only Six yo spare his younger self of all the suffering Six caused. Notice how Thin Man puts his hand out to Mono, not in a malicious way but as to warn him of what's coming, telling Mono to stop and ending the cycle
Kason B
What I think happened at ending is tha t the music box keeps six sane mono destroys it with makes six get madder and why she dropped him is because her good side ( the glitch ) was taken out with the monster so thats my idea
Thunder Galvez
Since we dont really get to see their faces, what if Mono taking off the bag was the reason Six dropped him? She probably got a good look at ThinMans face, and during the end scene when she dropped Mono, Six probably got a good look at his face and realized how similar they looked. So when she recognized it, she dropped him in fear of him attacking her like how Thin Man did
tctfrdualist
I just have a idea if thin man could be mono who says the lady could not be six
Gateador_ Gat
Wait, then what about the mobile game? What's the timeline
Robby Bobby1019
Did anyone think back to when Mono opened *thin man* door and six pulled him out of the tv? Mono didn't have his eyes closed when he got up so something started happening to him. Could this be why he was attracted to the tower? He wakes up by Six and Thin man comes out causing Mono to do something weird because he didn't have his eyes closed.
David Vezina
My theory on the ending is that Six saw Mono without his paper bag on and saw the resemblance between Mono and the Thin Man and thought betraying him was the only way to save herself. She thought the threat would be gone if she left him but her betrayal caused Mono to become the Thin Man in the first place. Otherwise the other theories apply. (I thought that because I saw it as Six looking at Mono’s face but maybe it was both absorbing his power and looking at him)
gamerader001
I gave some thoughts but what if Mono did not defeat the Thin Man but only defeated a form of a connection the Thin Man had to the past mentally. It would explain why the Thin Man vanished into thin air as that was not his physical body, as he would still be in the future but now able to leave the tower. A possible problem an older Six might need to deal with.
George Hawkins
Now it makes since mono is the younger version of the thin man trying to save his younger self from six see now I don’t like six
gabriele quintana
If six dropped mono because he looked exactly like thin man, thinking she killed him, that was a no brain moment because if she thought they were the same person it would be smart to save him because she could think if she dropped him she can see that fall didn't kill him looking that he was alive when he chased her and mono earlier, so she would have to save him to protect her younger self.

I don't think its a prequel, I think that this game is definitely a sequel. i don't know if i watched the video wrong but she would have the power to absorb the power of mono because she went to the maw in the first game and ate the lady who, in theory, is her adult self. After taking mono's powers she got hungry in her souls absence and went back to the maw to become the lady and feast on the souls of the people who's souls Six steals at the end of the first game. The lady will later be eaten by her younger self. after this the events of little nightmares will happen, she will be captured by the hunter and the events of little nightmares 2 will happen. Both Mono and Six are in the cycle and both kill their adult selves as children. Basically she wouldn't have the power to take Mono's powers and betray Mono if the events of the first game didn't happen. There are also the comics that happen but that isn't something i can talk about because i dont know enough about it. There are also plot holes like the yellow rain coat but that is also something i cant explain because that is something that only the smartest people and the game developers know about. If you disagree with me state your theories. Other wise, this video was great and it clears up a lot of confusion that I have had about this game which is also how I came up with this theory. I may not have come up with it first but i haven't read any other theories like this one.

honestly six seems to screw over anyone she comes in contact with.
I really just want a happy ending one of these times ;-;

The tall man was trying to save me. Oh really the amount of times he absorbed me into his body is crazy

You go into Six's personality and say she's like that after everything she went through, yet you come to the conclusion that it's a prequel after all, so while the reasoning could still be valid, there'd be other factors/reasons as to why she acts the way she does.
99NoodlePies
it may be possible that the mannequins freeze in the light as it reminds them of the tvs that everyone is so brainwashed by in the pale city? great video either way I was just thinking :))

I'm not... quite sure that's how things work in regards to messing with time.
Mystic-l1ght
I don't know if Thin Man ever intended to stop Six and Mono, if he wanted to break the cycle he could have killed six when he took her. Personal theory is he is obsessed with Six and what is being broadcast across the Pale City is his desperate longing/calling out for the friend he lost which is what transfixed all the population linking the cycle of obsession.

But why is the suitcase Six uses to reach the Maw in the tower illusion? The suitcase you get the hammer from is the same. And is Six the Geisha from the first game? The Geisha listens to music boxes the same as Six. And the thing that is never explained, is why these creatures feel an inexplicable need to kill/eat children. They have no regard for their own safety when trying to eat Six in the first game or chasing them in the second.
mirofski
sounds like it would be an good scp story
Alaric Moolman
My theory is that this is a prequal because six is a person who became a phschopath and this is how se became it and six found you were the thin man and also saw no use for you because she knows how things works and doesn't need you
G DB
so...thin man is the good guy, six and the tower are the bad guys, and kid mono is just stupid
Megan Lewis
I think Mono urged Six to let go of him so that she can continue her quest.

I'm almost 10 mins in and all he's done is summarize the game. Dude must've failed english cuz he's not even answering his own question.
Michael Martinez
The whole point of the video is to be a recap/explanation of the plot

if thin man only comes for the flesh, then the doctor was trying to save people by transferring them to mannequins. he also helps them out by making masks. such a nice guy.
A Real Cucumber
Oh my god that’s amazing

I love how when you burn the doctor alive, Six just casually warms her hands from the bottom of the furnace
Krustylesponge
8:56 i dont think the janitor is actually wearing a mask, his skin was just ripped off the top of his head and pushed down over his eyes
ManOnTheMooN20
Honestly, I wanted Six to be redeemable, but she really isn’t.

Six’s anime betrayal is foreshadowed; notice how she runs away from Mono at first and then immediately decides to use his help when trying to pull down the stairs.
She was legit using you from the start...
KK Puffin
Wait, little nightmares III should break the cycle, making it little dreams. Cool
A Real Cucumber
That’d be neat
