My grandfather was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer on his 81st birthday and he was gone 16 days later. The strongest man I’ve ever known was gone so quickly and so painfully. My aunt has been diagnosed 3 different times with 3 different cancers but she’s the most upbeat, positive person I know. She’s beat all 3. I can’t imagine losing my sweet 3.5 y/o daughter. I would be devastated if anything happened to her. She is my world, my life, my love. Pain for others seems to increase exponentially when you have kids of your own. Keep your head up, we’re all facing our own battles and just because someone else may have it worse, that doesn’t negate the pain we’re going through ♥️

To add on to the invention idea! It could be Bluetooth, you could download an app and program your own sayings or recordings of people being encouraging! You could programme it to track your weight patterns aswell so you could see how to maintain your weight better, while still feeling good

Hey Colleen, I know you mean well and you’re only talking about how you feel when you’re comparing your struggles to these children, but I struggle with depression and not wanting to wake up some days, and even small thing make me cry because of all this bottled up emotion I have inside of me. So hearing you tell the internet that your depression isn’t as important of a problem as childhood cancer just made me feel invalidated. Of course it’s all different degrees of what’s going on and I can’t even compare myself to what you have going on, but you say you have depression and that you shouldn’t be upset over your life just because other people have it worse just makes my heart sad for not only how I feel, but how you’re feeling about yourself and how many others might feel when they relate to your experiences. Yes, others might have it worse but saying and knowing that won’t fix your problems. When my grandma found out about my cutting and suicidal thoughts, the first thing she said to me was “as bad as you might think you have it, there are plenty out there living a worse life than you”. As much as I know that wasn’t meant to be malicious, in my mind it’s just invalidating what I go through. Don’t invalidate yourself Colleen. You’re strong and your feelings are valid too, despite what others might be going through.

I feel this deeply about similar things and when I'm aching I make sure to be thankful for the hurt I feel for these families and people. My reasoning here is if more people felt as hurt as I do by this, then something will get done about it. It helps me feel better when I hurt for people, if that makes sense.

recently my grandpa passed away from small cell lung cancer. he had the absolute worst genetic mutations too. he was 74 and made it 9 months. most people even younger than him dont make it that long. i am incredibly grateful. he was my best friend and my whole world. he would've not had his heart surgery 9 years ago if i wasn't born. i was his whole life. we were insanely close but he is now watching over me. i get signs that he's with me every now and then. but lesson of the day, dont smoke. please dont. it WILL be the reason you die. it took 62 years for something to happen to my grandpa. dont think nothing will happen. God bless you all

My husband's mother is the youngest of 8 kids. 4 of them have died from cancer. One of her living brothers has leukemia and thyroid right now. The other living brother has had prostate cancer 3 times. My mother-in-law and one of her other living brothers are the only 2 to have never had it. My mil has had to have several biopsies. The doctors tell her she does have the breast cancer gene. That her chances of getting it are over 50%. Her two sisters died of breast cancer. Their father also died of cancer. It is one of the scariest things for me, worrying about my son and my husband. My husband refuses to get checked afraid of what he may hear. Not realizing it could actually save his life.

Ig littlemissmomma stevie lynn stock this is exactly how i felt following her story she was 2 and one day showed motor funtion decrease and found out that she had huge tumor and over 6 weeks u see her dying on her couch with her pacifier and her brothers next to her. Some days she was responsive some not i cant imagine

We need more people like you in the world and IT WOULD be a better place. I l love everything you stand for girl, I will share this because people need to help these kids fighting everyday with cancer

I have a an older sibling who is a cancer survivor and even though I didn't really know what she went through I would ask her and my mom what they went through and it's very tragic to hear some of the things they say and to know other people can be going through that too is very hard to take in. I'm so happy for those who have survived cancer and I applaud you for beating it and for those who are going through it I will pray and support you in any way possible. And to Colleen I hope you know that what you're doing is amazing and though it is hard to see others go through that battle even though it's not affecting you directly I find you as such an inspiration for taking it into your own hands to make this even one of your thoughts during the day and making an impact on the issue that, I think so many kids including myself are grateful for all that you've done what what you may get done in your future.❤️

I think ‘going through something hard’ doesn’t just have to be situational. If you have mental health issues, or anxiety sometimes getting out of bed or a tissue getting in with your clothes in the wash can feel like the end of the world. Are those circumstances as serious as others, no? But can they feel huge to the person,, yes, it’s not a competition. I lost my brother and that was worse than anything I’ve experienced I don’t want people to feel they can’t talk about their stuff

Did anyone else notice her shirt says “I feel glorious?” I guess not the correct shirt for the evening. Colleen I am an RN and worked several years in oncology. It was probably one of the best units I ever worked. It gave me a chance to really get to know my patients. I didn’t work with children. Only adults because I would be crying all the time if it were pediatrics. There were many times I would walk into the bathroom to cry then get myself together and go back to work again.

Kids deserve more than 4% of the National Cancer Research budget.
A type of children's brain tumor (DIPG) should not have a 0% survival rate.
Children should not have to endure treatment meant for adults because new ones haven't been approved for them in literal decades.
Please, please, please donate. Please spread awareness. Anything helps these kids. They deserve better than this.
And thank you, Colleen, for being one of the people who recognizes this and does something for them.

It always breaks my heart to think about kids with cancer. But you, Colleen, give me hope for them, and have inspired me for when I'm older and able to get more money, I want to donate money to cancer children. This woman is absolutely incredible. She really is. But it breaks my heart when I see her go through stuff like this, not just because she’s going through something bad but that she doesn’t let herself be a person, I feel like she doesn’t let her be upset, that she doesn’t let herself be not ok. I also feel like she’s so focused on making other people happy (which I love) that she doesn’t focus on herself enough. This is my direct message to Colleen, it is ok to not be ok, it’s ok be a mess, its ok to be sad and upset about stuff. it’s ok to take time for yourself. Just because people have it worse does NOT make what you are going through any more non-existent.

I've been having a hard day.. Well, a hard few months. After over a decade of hospital and doctor visits and watching my body slowly deteriorate, I finally got a proper diagnosis in September. Great news, but it came with knowing the only way to alleviate some of my symptoms is to have brain surgery. So I go in for surgery on Monday. I had made my peace with everything, I had it all planned out, I knew how it was going to go, until I got a call on Wednesday telling me I can't have anyone with me before or after. I have to do this completely alone. Because of selfish people. So I've been having a rough time too.

Colleen, pain is pain. Sadness is sadness. We are all in this battle called life together, and it's never a competition. No one would say that your happiness is less valid because of what caused it, so why is it okay to say your sadness isn't valid because someone has a stronger reason to be sad or feel pain. That's right, it's not. But we all still fall into this pattern of comparing our pain in order to validate it.
It's simple...YOUR EMOTIONS and FEELINGS and THOUGHTS are all valid. Always.
I have been watching your videos religiously this year. It's the only bright light in dealing with my Dad's passing. Seeing you so openly share your thoughts, feelings, and emotions with the world has been so so helpful in me trying to navigate my own.
You are such an amazing individual and you bring this world so much light and love, and I wish we could be friends IRL.

Honestly Colleen I respect you so much for all your involvement for the childhood cancer charity. Your right about the hard part. Especially when it comes to children and animals just kills me. My nephew was diagnoses with leukemia when he was 3 on New Year’s Day 2017 and it was so hard seeing him and his little body going through so much and just wishing I could take his pain.
